BENEFIT HIGHLIGHTS

Adaptive Bi-Level

With its Adaptive Bi-Level capabilities, VersaMed is the first manufacturer to address the need for a functional, reliable and comfortable leak-tolerant ventilator specifically designed for non-invasive, tracheostomy and cuff-less endotracheal tube ventilation.

Adaptive Bi-Level works with a combination of two standard modes of ventilation - a pressure control mode of ventilation, where the end expiratory pressure and inspiratory pressure are specified along with the breath rate (patients can also initiate a breath) and I:E ratio combined with the feature of pressure support ventilation whereby breath termination can be controlled by the patient.

This type of ventilation operates in a leak tolerant mode. This means that the ventilator will provide patient disconnect alarms and PIP and PEEP alarms that are aware of the constant leak associated with face-mask ventilation.

Adaptive Flow

Adaptive Flow allows the patient to receive the amount of flow they desire.

Adaptive Flow performs 3 functions:

  • For a non-breathing patient, Adaptive Flow will utilise the lowest possible peak flow to deliver a breath in the allotted inspiratory time. By delivering the breath at the lowest peak flow the inspiratory pressures for that breath are minimised thus reducing the risk of barotrauma.
  • For a spontaneously breathing patient, Adaptive Flow detects and matches the patient's natural inspiratory flow rate.
  • For timed breaths interspersed with spontaneous breaths adaptive flow delivers the appropriate flow necessary to reach the target volume within the allotted time, while maintaining an I-time that results in an I:E of 1:2.

Adaptive I-Time

This feature, which can be activated in volume mode, allows the patient to take charge of their inspiratory time while keeping their I:E ratio at 1:2. In this mode, if the patient's rate increases, the ventilator decreases I-Time in an attempt to keep the 1:2 ratio and conversely will increase the I-Time if the rate drops.

The rise time is automatic and Adaptive I-Time is generally used in unison with Adaptive Flow. When combined the two features dramatically increase patient comfort by

  • Reducing Air Hunger
  • Decreasing Dyspnea
  • Reducing PIP

Pressure Limited Volume Ventilation

The iVent 201 has the capability to limit the delivery pressure of a volume breath. This feature allows the user to set a pressure limit, the pressure a breath will not exceed. This ensures the pressures will remain low enough to protect the lung from barotrauma.

If the target pressure is reached during the inspiratory phase, the ventilator will hold the breath at the set pressure until the I-Time is reached.

Quick set-up

The iVent 201 has pre-determined settings based on the patient's ideal body weight. This allows very quick application of the vent in emergency/non-clinician settings.

Sound Investment

Healthcare providers can use one machine (and one circuit) for a broad range of patients from paediatric to adult with invasive and face mask ventilation and CPAP.

A portable ventilator with the advanced capabilities of a heavy-duty ventilator, the iVent 201 is ideal in the ER, ICU, transport, EMS, long-term care/sub-acute, and home care & MRI.

Apnea Backup Ventilation

In case of apnea, the iVent 201 will initiate ventilation based on an average of the previous twelve breaths. If apnea is detected prior to an average taken, the ventilator will use the IBW, which was set at start up.

For instance, if the patient was in a volume mode, the patient will receive a Vt of 10 ml per selected kg, and the rate will vary based on the weight chosen.

Internal PEEP

The iVent 201 utilises a mushroom valve located in the expiratory limb of the circuit to control exhalation and PEEP. A sensor line applies and maintains the clinician set pressure on the valve. This system is much more accurate and adds considerably less weight than the dial type valves located at the distal end of some ventilator circuits.

Easy Exhale

Easy Exhale is a patient comfort feature found on the iVent 201. This feature unloads all resistance from the expiratory valve at the beginning of exhalation. Once the baseline PEEP has been met, the PEEP is then reapplied. By exhaling against zero PEEP, the patient's expiratory work of breathing is greatly reduced and comfort dramatically increased.

Software Upgradeability

The iVent 201 is based on a computer platform that allows it to be upgraded in the same manner as the software on a PC. Many other software driven ventilators utilise EPROM programs that are not easily upgradeable, and updates mean a complete program change out is needed.

With the iVent 201 we just add on to the existing software program which makes the upgrade fast, easy and able to be performed on site with reducing down time.

Ease of Use

The menu on the iVent 201 is accessed by the click-turn-click rotational control that makes it very user friendly. The user is never more than one menu deep in the program. Most functions operate from a popup screen format.

Critical Care Vent in a Compact Package

The iVent 201 has the ventilation modalities and capacity to handle 90% plus of all patients requiring ventilation. It is the first ventilator on the market designed to handle both non-invasive and invasive ventilation.
