Collateral Ligament Repair Surgical Technique

Ulnar and radial collateral ligaments of the hand are located laterally of the proximal interphalangeal joints, distal interphalangeal joints, and metacarpophalangeal joint. These ligaments stabilize and align the finger joints and can be torn upon forceful abduction, blunt trauma, or presence of a Stenor lesion. Gamekeeper’s Thumb, also known as Skier’s Thumb, is a condition when the UCL of the thumb becomes torn from the insertional site of the proximal phalange caused by a forceful fall or by a previous injury. Both acute and chronic ligament tears can be treated surgically with anchors and soft tissue fixation resulting in positive clinical outcomes. In addition, TruShot™ with Y-Knot® Shallow can be utilized for soft tissue fixation for  the ulnar or radial collateral ligament repair of the hand.
